Whatever you like, tell us.
In this upcoming series we are going to be talking about the things Jesus said, the good ,the bad, and the ugly.
We often find ourselves only focusing on the things of Jesus that we like or that make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. However if we are going to be true followers of Jesus we are going to have to examine everything he said and begin to live it out.
To all those who we involved…Thanks for all your help!!!
Hey Relevate!
We are just starting out journey through the amazing Gospel of John. Personally I think it’s one of the best book in the New Testament, and I’m really excited to walk through it with you.
As you know our journey will be shaped by your comments and questions to the reading… SO PLEASE READ!! And send in your questions.
The Bible is an interactive book, and you only get out of it what effort you put into it… I hope this series can be a fun and engaging way for you to study the Life of our Lord Jesus and be a part of shaping this Series.
I will use any questions I receive on following Weds night that come in by Weds morning… so stay current on your reading and send in your questions and comments as they come!!!
Just think it only takes 21 days to form a habit… so if you read 1 chapter a day with us for the next 21 days you’ll have formed a great habit of reading you bible everyday!
I look forward to reading you questions and comments

Watch as this girl gets pranked about the Rapture…. Kinda sad and kinda funny and overall really makes you think.
Tell me your opinion.
What does it mean to be a Christian?
Could you answer this question without giving multiple amendments.
Does your answer mainly consist of beliefs or doctrine? Or even things that as a Christian you can do or be a part of?
But is this all it means to be a Christian… Doctrine and “thou shall nots.”
On the other hand how many of you thought, “a personal relationship with Jesus” thats what it means to be a Christian. Right??? It sounds good. It sounds like something we hear in church often. However, Jesus in John 13:35 doesn’t say “by this all men will know you are my disciples, that you have a personal relationship with me.” He says, “by this all men will know you are my disciples, that you have Love for one anther.”
To be a follower of Jesus means you live out the love of Christ… You live a life that is “others-centered.”
At the core of being a Christian means you minister to the needs of the poor and oppressed. Yet, as I heard one pastor say, “John 3:16 says, ‘for God so loved the world‘…so why then does it only look like God loves the Church?” We often focus so much time meeting our own spiritual needs and the needs of those in the church we never reach outside to meet the needs and spread the love of Christ to others.
Rick McKinley said, “we’ve reduced ‘all the world’ and ‘all creation’ to just the folks who walk through the front door at church. And we’ve shrunk the Good News to a short list of words that will save them from Hell.”
There is more to being a Christian that doctrine, rules, and the “sinners Prayer.” In fact I would say thats being religious. Be a Christian in living out the Love of Christ, putting God first and then the needs of our neighbors, before we ever seek our desires and wants.

This video is only the last 10 min of what she shared with us.
As Jon began to write, I began to think more and more about how I (and almost every girl I know), loves to chat. Chatting doesn’t always have to be in person either…we chat using text messaging, myspace, email and various other technical avenues. I thought it might be nice that we open this blog to relevate’s girls (and guys if interested) as well as anyone who just wants to chat…I will try to be as entertaining and intelligent as my husband but in time we will see how it all turns out.
My first subject, if you could call it that is respect. Yes, I said it R-E-S-P-E-C-T (oh and I just sang it-you can too, you know you want to). I don’t know why I have been thinking about that word a lot lately but I have, so I just thought I would share my thoughts and then hopefully you will share yours!
I have to respect so many people; God, my husband, my son, my parents, my employer, my teachers (when I was in school), my pastor, my government, my friends…the list goes on and on. Not only do I have to respect each one but I have to do it forever. I have to be honest, sometimes this is hard. I mean I don’t always feel like respecting each of these people ALL the time, but God asks me to. Each of these are hard on different levels because we come in contact with them either daily, weekly, yearly etc. No matter what the situation, we need to be lights to each of these people with the amount of respect (and love) we show them.
The first word I think of behind respect is honor. You can gain honor through showing others you are worthy of it (Proverbs 11:16) and give others affiliated with you a good name by being a respectable person (Proverbs 31).
Don’t forget, you also have to respect yourself. Most of the time people think of themselves first, but sometimes, if you are like me, “yourself” can get left out of the list of people that needs respect. I need to respect myself enough to see the great gifts God has given me and allow Him to use me. If I am just throwing myself a pity party on how I am not able etc God will just move on to someone else, and I missed it. Now, don’t over do it and move into pride but realize that God WANTS to use you and WANTS to be a part of your life. When you do this, you may see the need to stop cutting, disrespecting your body, get out of an abusive relationship…whatever the case may be.
Anyways, what do you all think about respect??
Because of Jesus,
Sarah
